Helsinki Rugby Club’s 2026–2030 strategy is a people-first plan. It aims to grow rugby in the capital by raising standards. It also focuses on widening participation and delivering consistently great experiences. Built with feedback from players, parents, coaches, volunteers, and community partners, it is anchored in three values: Leadership, Excellence, Family. Those values join a culture anchored in the club’s DNA: belonging, pride, enjoyment, confidence, excitement, success, and competitiveness.

A Strategy Built on Community Feedback and Strong Values

By 2030, HRC aims to be the city’s reference point for rugby. The club plans to be present in schools and community centers. It strives to be visible in local media. HRC will also be welcoming to newcomers, competitive at the top, and supportive of volunteers. This involves expanding teams and enhancing coaching depth. It also requires strengthening pathways from minis to seniors. Every interaction, training session, and match must reflect high standards. Each event and communication should embody rugby’s values.

Growth hinges on taking the game to people where they are. It involves telling compelling stories about rugby. It also means removing barriers to entry so participation feels easy and safe. Inside the club, success depends on how well volunteers are supported. Clearly defined roles, ownership of work, and access to training are crucial. A structure that spreads responsibility ensures contributing remains rewarding. Financial sustainability is at the heart of delivery. Transparent governance supports this process. A proactive approach to safeguarding is also essential. Partnerships and grants back these efforts. They allow investment in facilities, equipment, and digital tools. They also support a year-round calendar of community and competitive events.

What will progress look like? There will be more faces on the pitch and in the stands. Coaches and referees will have better resources. Performances will be stronger without losing inclusivity. Rugby will have a visible presence across Helsinki’s civic life. The invitation is simple. Bring your energy where it fits — whether in coaching, officiating, events, media, safeguarding, fundraising, or club operations. With shared ownership and steady support, HRC will embed rugby as a proud and permanent part of Helsinki’s sporting landscape.
